In some countries Philippines official documents such as Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificates may not be accepted, even NSO documents, unless they have the DFA Red Ribbon. A “DFA Red Ribbon” is a gold seal on a red ribbon wrapped around your document that signifies that your papers are authentic Philippine documents.
You can get the DFA Red Ribbon at Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila. If you are not in Manila, then you can probably have a Travel Agency request the Red Ribbon in Manila on your behalf.
If you apply to Manila yourself, fees for Red Ribbons are P100 per document:
If you go through a travel agent you will probably pay P1,500 to P2,000 and it will take approximately 3 weeks. You will need to sign a letter of authorization so that the agency can act on your behalf.
